
The solar field will be a 50 MW Photovoltaic (PV) plant, consisting of 168,720 photovoltaic (PV) panels mounted over an area approximately 90 hectares. The project is located at Droogfontein, approximately 12km north of Kimberley in the Northern Cape Province, South Africa.
The Project is part of the Government of South Africa's Renewable Energy IPP Procurment Program and is among the very first large scale renewable power plansts to be built in the country. Globeleq is the majority shareholder in a construction comprised of Manistream Renewable Power, Thebe Investment Corporation, engineering firms Enzani Technologies and Usizo Engineering and local community trusts.
