The Lunsemfwa Hydropower Station is a 24 MW facility in Zambia’s Central Province, forming one of two stations operated by LHPC—Zambia’s first Independent Power Producer and now majority‑owned by Globeleq. The plant operates in a cascade with the 32 MW Mulungushi station and is integrated into LHPC’s dedicated transmission network, ensuring reliable evacuation into the national grid.
Electricity is supplied under a long‑term Power Purchase Agreements with ZESCO and private off‑takers including Copperbelt Energy Corporation and Jubilee Metals, complemented by active trading through the Southern African Power Pool. Recent refurbishment of generating units has strengthened performance, and the asset sits within LHPC’s broader growth pipeline that includes future hydropower upgrades and solar expansion.
