Mulungushi is a 32 MW hydropower station in Zambia’s Central Province and one of two plants operated by LHPC, the country’s first Independent Power Producer. It forms a cascade with the Lunsemfwa plant and connects to LHPC’s dedicated transmission network, supporting reliable delivery into the national grid.
The station, originally commissioned in the 1920s, has undergone major refurbishments to modernize its generating units and enhance performance. Mulungushi supplies electricity under long‑term PPAs and supports regional power trading through the Southern African Power Pool.
