Dibamba Power’s 88 MW generation plant in Yassa Village near Douala supplies electricity to the national grid when demand is at its peak. The facility uses 8 Wärtsilä 18V38A reciprocating engines fueled by heavy fuel oil. The plant sells electricity to ENEO, the national utility, through a 20-year tolling agreement.
The plant was commissioned in 2009 in two stages. It was initially designed to be a peaking plant, but due to the demand for electricity continuing to outstrip supply, Dibamba is running more frequently. Globeleq is a majority owner in partnership with the Government of Cameroon, which holds the remaining share of the business.
