The Kafue Solar Project is a 56 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) project being developed by Globeleq near the town of Kafue in Zambia’s Lusaka Province. The project comprises two co-located 20 MWac solar PV plants, providing a total contracted capacity of 40 MWac, and includes a 3.5 km transmission line connecting the facility to the Kafue Town Substation.
The project was awarded to Globeleq through Zambia’s Global Energy Transfer Feed-in Tariff (GET FiT) Programme, a competitive tendering initiative led by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Zambia in partnership with the German Development Bank (KfW). The programme is aimed at accelerating renewable energy development and supporting Zambia’s transition to a more sustainable and climate-resilient energy sector.
