Konkoonsies Solar Power is one of the first solar facilities from the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) in the Northern Cape Province.
Situated 32km northeast of Pofadder, this 11 MWp solar power project covers over 30 hectares of Khai-Ma municipality-owned land.
Since mid-2014, the project has generated approximately 22 GWh per year, supplying enough clean, renewable electrical energy to power more than 4,900 average South African homes.
Konkoonsies Solar Power generates electricity using 40 000 Crystalline Silicone solar (PV) panels, which feed the 33-kilo Volt (kV) Eskom distribution system.
