LHPC’s first solar PV plant is being constructed as part of its growth pipeline to further diversify Zambia’s renewable energy mix. LHPC is Globeleq’s majority owned entity which also operates 56 MW of hydropower in the Central Region.
The Kafue Solar project is a 56 MWp PV project being developed by Globeleq in Zambia. The project consists of two co-located 20 MWac solar PV plants (40 MWac contracted capacity) and includes a 3.5km powerline connecting to the Kafue town substation
Globeleq's 153 MW / 612 MWh Red Sands project in the Northern Cape will be Globeleq's first large-scale BESS project in Africa and the largest standalone project in Africa to reach financial close and enter construction.
The Globeleq-led Central Térmica de Temane (CTT) 450 MW gas-fired power project, located at Temane in Inhambane Province in Mozambique, will supply low-cost, reliable power to Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) under a 25-year tolling agreement using natural gas supplied from the Pande-Temane Fields
Globeleq and its partner, Source Energia, are in the final stages of developing Mozambique's first wind farm project. Namaacha is a 120MW wind project in southern Mozambique, approximately 50 kms west of Maputo.
Menengai is a 35 MW greenfield geothermal project & part of the first phase of the wider Menengai complex, the second large-scale geothermal field being developed in Kenya after Olkaria. Globeleq will operate and maintain the power plant once it reaches commercial operations.
